Running Barefoot on the Beach

While living on the seacoast I have always taken advantage of the beautiful beach. In the summer I spend every afternoon running barefoot on the beach. Why barefoot? Well personally I didn’t want to get my shoes wet or sandy for that matter.

Running on the beach reduces the overall stress of your joints pounding the ground every time you take a step. It’s great for your hip flexors and gluteus muscles.  Running on the beach is also great for building more speed and power.

Running barefoot on the beach allows you to stabilize muscles in your knees, ankles and feet. When running barefoot, you’ll  have proper landing that running shoes can’t do. Normally people who wear running shoes land heel first while placing more stress on the foot. The proper landing should be in the middle of the foot, barefoot running allows for that to happen.  It also gives you better posture and stronger feet.  It also allows you to save money that you would spend on running shoes.

Try it out and let me know what you think in the comments below!
